AUSI Snorkel Professional Cross-Over Requirements

Snorkel and scuba professionals from other recognised certification agencies can work for an AUSI Facility at three levels, either:
- Non-certifying AUSI Snorkel Diver Instructor, who can assist a certifying AUSI Snorkel Diver Instructor on any AUSI Snorkelling program,
- AUSI Snorkel Guide, who can conduct AUSI Scuba Adventure (Introductory Scuba Diving) programs and assist a certifying AUSI Scuba Instructor on any AUSI Scuba Diver program, and
- Certifying AUSI Snorkel Diver Instructor, who can conduct approved AUSI Scuba Diver programs and issue relevant AUSI Scuba Certifications.
All snorkel and scuba professionals assisting or conducting AUSI Snorkel Programs must:
- Be at least 18 years of age,
- Be a certified snorkel or scuba professional with another recognised agency,
- Hold a current snorkel supervisor medical (see AUSI Definitions),
- Hold a current work place first aid certificate,
- Hold a current CPR certificate,
- Hold a current oxygen provider certificate, and
- Not be the defendant in any outstanding ethics or quality assurance complaints.
Non-certifying AUSI Snorkel Instructors:
Do not require registration with AUSI therefore there is no requirement for a cross-over or payment of fee.
AUSI Snorkel Guides
Instructors wishing to act as an in-water snorkel guide or supervise snorkelling programs must become a registered AUSI Snorkel Guide or higher. To become an AUSI Snorkel Guide an instructor from another agency must:
- Submit an AUSI Cross-Over Application Form,
- Submit copies of all relevant qualifications (see above list),
- Submit a passport photograph,
- Pay appropriate fee, and
- Complete a formal open book AUSI Snorkel Guide Cross-Over.
The cost for an AUSI Snorkel Guide Cross-Over includes:
- An AUSI International Snorkel Guide Training Manual (soft copy only),
- An AUSI Snorkel Guide Workbook (soft copy only),
- AUSI Snorkel Guide certification card and wall certificate, and
- AUSI Membership until the end of the current year.
The Annual Renewal Fee is due in November each year.
AUSI Snorkel Guide Cross-Overs can be conducted in-house by approved AUSI Facilities.
AUSI Certifying Snorkel Diver Instructors
Eligible snorkel and scuba instructors from other agencies wishing to conduct AUSI Snorkel Diver Certification Programs must become a registered AUSI Level II Scuba Instructor or higher. To become an AUSI Snorkel Diver Instructor or higher a snorkel or scuba instructor from another agency must:
- Submit an AUSI Cross-Over Application Form,
- Submit copies of all relevant qualifications (see above list),
- Submit a passport photograph,
- Pay appropriate fee,
- Complete a formal open book AUSI Snorkel Diver Instructor Cross-Over.
AUSI Snorkel Diver Instructor Cross-Overs are only conducted AUSI Head Office and relevant files will only be sent upon receipt of the above documentation. Documentation can be submitted by post, fax or e-mail.
Note: Instructors applying for AUSI Snorkel Diver Instructor Trainer will be required to undergo an assessment orientation.
The cost for an AUSI Snorkel Diver Instructor Cross-Over is normally rebated with AUSI Certification Forms upon completion, and includes:
- A copy of the AUSI Instructor Course Notes (soft copy only),
- An AUSI Snorkel Instructor Workbook (soft copy only),
- An AUSI Snorkel Standards & Procedures Exam (soft copy only),
- AUSI Snorkel Instructor card and wall certificate, and
- AUSI Membership until the end of the current year.
The Annual Renewal Fee is due in November each year.
Notes:
- Instructors who complete the AUSI Snorkel Diver Instructor Cross-Over will have their fee rebated with the equivalent value in AUSI Certification Forms.
- All annual fees, when paid on time, are rebated with the equivalent value in AUSI Certification Forms.
- Instructors wishing to obtain hard copy of relevant documents can purchase them for AUSI Head Office. Please refer to the current AUSI Price List.
AUSI Snorkel Instructor Endorsement
All professionals wishing to become AUSI Snorkel Guides or AUSI Snorkel Instructors must complete a Certification Duck Dive to determine the level of certification, where:

NOTE:
- The supervising guide and or certifying instructor shall be at the same level or higher than the level of AUSI Snorkel Diver being supervised or certified eg to issue a Level 2 Snorkel Diver certification the instructor must be an AUSI Level 2 Snorkel Diver Instructor or higher.
- The Certification Duck Dive can be held in-house and must be verified be a current registered instructor from any agency.
