Incident Alert- Snorkelling fatalities (22/12/2014)
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland is investigating a number of deaths that have occurred in recent weeks during recreational snorkelling operations.
While no AUSI facility was involved, AUSI reminds Professionals of their obligations to follow their Standards and Procedures when conducting Snorkelling Operations. Please also note AUSI procedures regarding Accident Reporting, available in the AUSI Procedures Section 2.
Worksafe Queensland has produced a Guide for Snorkelling Workers. All AUSI facilities should follow this guide in addition to all AUSI standards and procedures regarding Snorkel Diving and Snorkel Swimming.
